I think one of the great ways to get our young to learn English is through music. For many reasons. as I outline in this article. It is even better, more inspiring, more engaging when they see their fellow country men/women singing in English! So in this spirit, let's share some of our favorite international artists singing in their second language!  Get the full player and lyric book HERE

Here's a brave singer from Korea, to start off this directory!

Today's entry - Outlandish! This group is really "outlandish" - 3 guys from all over the world (Morocco, Pakistan, Honduras), meeting in Denmark and making cool, message filled, hope filled music for the "worldly" youth of today. Listen and be moved and move!

Wonderful thread, David : ))). Do you know that Nat'l Geographic has what looks like a great world music site, but because of my region, I cannot even hear the songs? Maybe you can try, see if it works from Korea. If it does, I'll explore that proxy thing : ).
Check out my latest music find, Adama Dram from Burkina Faso! It isn't in English, but there are no words at all... so....

Also, the site beemp3.com has become much more comprehensive. Not sure how they do it, but lots and lots of free music to download. Hurry while it lasts....

Ellen, you can feel those drums go right through your skin!

Today's entry is from the Czech Rep. , my old home. I still follow the music and must say I applaud the few groups there who are courageous enough to sing in English ( Czechs are usually VERY laid back but when it comes to their music, really don't go for Czechs singing in English. ). The band is called Support Lesbiens and the song is English Stereo. It was a big hit, lots of radio play.....

Reshmonu is one of my favorite R&B artiste here in Malaysia. This song is entitled: Walk Away. Find out more about him at http://www.reshmonu.com/

Walk Away by Reshmonu

verse 1:
I look into your eyes, and all I see,
is the kind of love, between the you and me,
no I can't describe the way that I feel,
the way we held our hands all through the night,
it's so hard to find a girl like you,
cause you're so fine.

and I, love, everything about you,
baby can you see, me,
oh I'm standing here in front of you,
won't leave cause I'm here for you,
and I, need, everything about you,
baby can you see, me,
oh I'm standing here in front of you,
won't leave cause I'm here for you.

chorus:
every time you walk away,
you take, you take, you take a little piece of my heart away,
there isn't a thing I won't do,
when you walk out that door leaving me alone.
every time you walk away,
you take, you take, you take a little piece of my heart away
there isn't a thing I won't do.

rap:
every time you walk away,
you take a little piece of my heart away,
I'm a feeling kinda lonely sitting waiting for you to phone me,
baby want you by my side,
don't wanna hide,
cause love is you, and you my life,
and every time you walk away,
you take a little piece of my heart away.
baby can you see,
that you and I were meant to be,
like the roots that holds the tree,
oh baby, let the roots be you the tree be me,
ah baby, can you understand,
I will always be your man,
that every time you walk away,
you take a little piece of my heart away.

bridge:
every time you walk away,
baby you take,
you take a little piece of my heart away.
(my heart away)
every time you walk away,
baby you take,
you take a little piece of my heart away.
(my heart away)

verse 2:
girl you know what I'm trying to say,
don't lead me astray,
you're my guiding hope,
that's keeping me afloat,
but still there's so much I need to say,
the way we held our hands, all through the night,
its so hard to find a girl like you,
cause you're so fine.

and I, love, everything about you,
baby can you see, me,
oh I'm standing here in front of you,
won't leave cause I'm here for you,
and I, need, everything about you,
baby can you see, me,
oh I'm standing here in front of you,
wont leave cause I'm here for you.

chorus
chorus

verse end
now every time you walk away,
you take a piece of me with you,
oh yes you do,
there isn't a thing that I won't do,
to get you back by my side,
cause love is you,
and you are my life,
my life, my life.

Deeper Conversation by Yuna

Is your favourite colour blue?
Do you always tell the truth?
Do you believe in outerspace?
And I'm learning you

Is your skin as tanned as mine?
Does your hair flow sideways?
Did someone take a portion of your heart?
And I'm learning you

And if you don't mind
Can you tell me
All your hopes and fears
And Everything that you believe in
Would you make a difference in the world
I'd love for you to take me to a deeper conversation
Only you can make me

I let my guard down for you
And in time you will too

If you don't mind
Can you tell me
All your hopes and fears
And Everything that you believe in
Would you make a difference in the world
I'd love for you to take me to a deeper conversation
Only you can make me

If you don't mind
Can you tell me
All your hopes and fears
And Everything that you believe in
Would you make a difference in the world
I'd love for you to take me to a deeper conversation
Only you can make me
