CLASSROOM CONNECTING

We have teachers from all over the world here! Let's connect our classrooms and let our students meet each other!

Visit our CLASS SHARE page and search for a teacher/classroom that has agreed to entertain the idea of sharing their classroom with another one from around the world.

Sue Waters at Edublogger also has a list you might scan. Also see Ginger's Distance Collaboration group on our sister site, Classroom 2.0 for other possible connections. I was also very inspired by Lorraine's totally "genius" example. A shining light in the lonely universe of classrooms.

Please also visit Project Peace - our own collaboration site where you can view video songs of other classrooms around the world, learn English, make your own and spread the message of peace with music!

Hi.
My name is Jim. I teach at a public middle school in Incheon, South Korea. My students are aged 12-15. I would love to share lessons with a class from another country. I teach after school classes with 9-12 students who have low-intermediate English skills. Fortunately, I have access to many different types of technological resources that can help facilitate a classroom exchange. Feel free to message me here or send me an email: melek-taus@live.com
Thanks,
Jim

Hi All!
A new website has been launched: www.soenglishglobally.com for the purpose of connecting teachers and students globally through video recorded chat and text chat. Check it out!

I am looking for teachers who would like to partner with me and my classes. I teach the 1st grade of high school at an all girls high school in Seoul, Korea. My students are ready to communicate in English with other students around the world. We simply need people to talk to!

If interested, here's what your class will need:

1. Computers and high speed internet connections

2. Web cams and microphone headsets

3. A free teachers account www.soenglishglobally.com

4. Free individual student accounts www.soenglishglobally.com

5. As the teacher, simply send a message to the site administor and you will be matched with other classes and given a classroom to enter online.

Hi, I'm teaching in a jr/sr high school in Tokyo.

I'm posting this info in other areas of EFL Classroom 2.0, but there is a new software called "PikiFriends" which lets secondary school students and teachers around the world connect with each other, like a modern-day penpal system. Built from scratch and very unique, the focus is on members using English to communicate and make friends in an enjoyable, safe and easy-to-use format. I designed the software myself; from the beginning my dream has been to give specifically secondary schools a tool that can have a positive influence on young people's intrinsic motivations to use English. There are no tests, quizzes, levels, or grammar lessons - it is strictly for making friends internationally and using English authentically. Teachers are free to use the system in a variety of ways. I believe both students and teachers will enjoy and benefit from its use.

I have over 250 high school students on it right now, and we're gradually getting more and more schools joining. Please come and see what we're all about, it's free and very cool!

The site is:
http://www.pikifriends.net

You can download the "FAQ" and "How to Use PikiFriends" files here, they should answer just about any questions you may have:

Send me a message through ESL Classroom 2.0 or the mail below if you are interested. Thanks a lot and happy teaching!

I teach in a primary school. ( age 6-14) My students have already started learning English, but it would be great to meet and making links with other students from all over the world. ( maybe on skype) It would motivate them to learn English very much.
