This is not easy and that's one problem with flash, the amount of
knowledge you need to make a game as oppossed to the less versatile
ppt but easier to change. Let me think about it. I'd like to see
something where the students drag the items (pictures / words) and
if they match , both disappear. I'm going to try that when I get
some extra time. As of now, no template for what you are mentioning
other than constructing it from scratch in flash. I'll try to come
up with something! David

I think the school may have blocked the site because it has the word"games" in the URL...mine does the same thing.

Hi David, my school computer won't let me use BAAM!. i just get crosses over the numbers, and it won't work! Do I need something to combat this? or is it a hopeless case?

i've attached two PPT games for 6th grade lessons. one is for "What Will You Do This Summer?" and the other is for "My Father Is a Pilot".
It's called the Bomb game (similar to BAAM) and my kids went crazy over it.
it's really easy. at least 2 teams though 3 is fine. team chooses a letter (slide 3). it will take them to a question. the team must answer in unison. if they are right, they get the reward. if not, it passes to the next team. click the little "u-turn" button to get back to the alphabet page. next teams turn.

the rewards are points (1-5), a bomb (which brings their score back to 0 points, dynamite (which they can chose to bring another teams points back to 0), and a man (i found out theif is a pretty bad word to Koreans... the man can take 3 points away from the other team(s)... all 3 pints from one team or they can take up to a total of 3 points from multiple teams).

give it a shot. it really is fantastic. l

I'm using some BAAM games this week for my classes. It's the week before exams and the students have no patience for regular, academic work.

The problem I'm having is that after I download and run the games, they don't work a second time. Once they're closed and opened a second time, then the numbers are all "X-ed" and clicking on any one of them simply takes you to the first question. This happens with all the BAAM games.

I've tried both PowerPoint and OpenOffice and tried it on two different computers. My friends also have this problem. Any idea as to how to fix it? It's better than downloading it every time or running it from an archive (read-only).

Sean,

How do you download? Right click the game and "save as". This will put it on your desktop . Open and then I suggest once again, "save as" and save it under a different name. This will make it not read only and your own copy....

If the games aren't working a second time, it seems it must be on your end. Are you using ppt 2003. Unfortunately, 2007 WILL screw up a lot of ppt games with many actions... hope this helps some...

just a note to the creator of the "fling the teacher" quizzes. In the "general knowledge" one, the 3rd question's answer is incorrect. In the movie, "Scent of a Woman" it starred Al Pacino, but the answer says Robert De Niro.

The BAAM templates do not work. None of the text i put into the slides show up except for the first one. I've tried it on several computers and they are all like that. What's going on?

Linda, could the problem be you are working with a read-only copy? As David suggests above, try saving the powerpoint using "save as", and make sure you are saving it in powerpoint 2003 format (PPT 2007 gives you the option to save in several different formats)
