Recently cleaned up and added some things. More to come. Might be a few links still not working but will resolve shortly....

Try the Chili Meter!

Nice resources of links, and well organized. You'll probably need more categories soon!

Elizabeth -- you are soooo right! Many more to come, I have a folder of things I need to categorize and then put up.

Susan - You're very welcome! Hopefully, now I can get around to cleaning up the links in our diigo too for IWB pages/tools. My next job.

Adding to Smartboard/ IWB resources: http://pbskids.org/whiteboard/

Coming from PBS (US Public Broadcasting System) these resources should be top-notch.

OK. Here's a dumb "newbie" question (or two).
How do I use these tools (e.g. Triptico) off-line?
My schools have unreliable Internet access, so I want to be able to download them and use them unconnected.
How do you enter data into them e.g. questions, vocabulary, student names, etc.?
I'm trying to get Triptico to answer this as well, but the contact form seems to be stuck i.e. it's not sending.
Perhaps someone could come up with a basic user's guide so simple questions don't require posting.
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help.
Thanks,
Greg.

Greg,

Some flash files are self containers and you can simply right click on the link and "save as". Then use off line.

However, most of triptico's stuff isn't and you'll have to use it online. Still - I get your point about offline access. But I do highlight these here because these files are very reliable even with poor bandwidth. But yeah, you do need to be online.

David at Triptico is great at helping others. I'm sure he'll reply. You can use our Questions page for specific help and maybe we can all help each other?

Another option to look into and which I haven't highlighted much because it does take a little bit of tech know how - is to download a whole site for offline use. There are several good programs which will download everything and then you can use the whole site offline. There are wrinkles to this though - but worth a shot if important. Google webstripper surfoffline or htttracker for these kinds of utilities.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, David. I've heard back from David at Triptico now and he echoes your comments about downloads, though interestingly he might look into creating some new options for downloading, but that may take some time of course.
In the meantime, I'll work through the other files in the Toolbox and work out what I can use without www, or possibly by using the utilities you mentioned.
Cheers,
Greg.

Hi everybody,
I am looking for an online tool that allows learners to write essays collaboratively and simultaneously text chat with each other about the structure of the essay. I know of Wikis but they are not simultaneous.

Regards
