Teachers at war against cuts in Public Education (Madrid)

Posted on September 15, 2011 at 8:46am 2 Comments

Teachers to strike in Madrid over stuffing cuts. This is an outrageous attack on public secondary education.

Secondary and vocational training teachers at 400 schools will go on strike Sept. 20, 21 and 22. The regional government, run by the conservative Popular Party,  has ordered that teachers give two extra hours of class per week because temporary hiring is being cut back. The bare truth is that without the thousands of temporary teachers who are normally hired each year, some…

Oh, no change here, unless it is for the better!

Congratulations and I know how difficult it can be to jump through all the hurdles and swim through all the "paperwork" that seems so meaningless at times. That's life I guess. You are almost there and do what you have to do but remain confident in your practical ability and all the experience teaching that is "within you". Keep it human right?

Rosa,

Sleep well! Nothing will happen and don't worry at all about it. I deal with this all the time (so little people know about what it takes .....). Just respond quickly and it ends there... don't worry!

Hi Roselinks,

I got this message from Ning (the platform for our community) about your blog post "Never work harder than your students". They disabled your content because of a copyright issue/complaint. No problem, it happens all the time. But maybe you might want to modify the blog post now....

Cheers, hope all is well.

David

Rosa,

thanks for changing the quilt! Yes, I knew you were in Scotland and yes, I was being a little too sensitive about Scottish accents. Between you and me, if I could speak any way, it would be the Scottish way! I love and adore it. It has so much " spirit" and humanity. Really hits me and that's what I love about language - not really the meaning but the meaning in the sound or as Faulkner might have said - "the sound and the fury".

I'm a poet of many years. I teach because I also think that is a poet's calling... but the sound, the sound of things, just brings me to my knees; Believe it or not, it is all about the sound -- the rest just really confuses...

Sorry to be so confusing but my way of explaining it... like you "pink"...

Cheers and hope you are safe and sound at home with family,

David

Rosa,

Are you back home these days? I'm jealous of all your traveling! I've been stuck in Seoul and doing my best to keep sane....my time will come though...

Just one thing. About your recent kilt blog post. Can you decrease the size of the photo? after the picture url just put a width indicator (no height needed. Change as you wish to fit but put a space after " like this, [ sddf.jpg" width="138" ]

Thanks a million, happy teaching
