Children Learn What They Live

If children live with hostility,
they learn to fight.

If children live with ridicule,
they learn to be shy.

If children live with tolerance,
they learn to be patient.

If children live with encouragement,
they learn confidence.

If children live with praise,
they learn to appreciate.

If children live with fairness,
they learn justice.

If children live with security,
they learn faith.

If children live with approval,
they learn to like themselves.

If children live with acceptance, and friendship,
they learn to find love in the world.

I think children have such a hard time of it in this world. they really do. We expect too much and we usually think of them last (despite our mythology glorifying their care/innocence). when you look at the statistics in this world - it is always kids who bear the weight of the world's hunger, lack of medical treatment/sanitation , war, disease, violence, neglect. Unicef's Convention on the Rights of Children really should be taught in all schools. TAUGHT for a full year. Not as an add on. Lots of resources and videos there...

We shouldn't have "The Year of the Child" - that infers they get the spotlight once in a while. Each moment should be their time on the stage.

I do absolutely agree! Kids do pay too much for adults maniac acts! Now and in their future! I experience that every day! And that is one of the reasons that I do care. I have as well paid as a child for "adults" decision - over my then "kid-head"! So I do not have difficulties to understand or feel different aspects and perspectives! in the matter! And I try to keep an ageless spirit!
