Here is a template to use and "disappear" dialogue. It is a very used language teaching technique and this might be useful in powerpoint. I'll get a flash version shortly, but this will work for those teachers without an Interactive whiteboard.

1. Elicit and write the dialogue. Or use a prepared dialogue.

2. Students practice in pairs.

3. Once they are comfortable with the dialogue. Disappear some parts. Continue disappearing more...

4. Rebuild the dialogue together to finish.

Don't worry if they put in their own language/words and don't "get" the dialogue perfectly!!!! The aim is practice and specific practice of language in a specific context.

Very low tech. and can be used in an instant. The perfect activity if you need to teach at the last minute!

Another option for a teacher is to use the "PEN" on ppt and erase that way.  Right click the page (when in slideshow/presentation) and select, "pointer options" . Select the pen.

Thanks to member Donna for writing me and urging me to make something like this!
IF YOU MAKE A DIALOGUE USING THIS TEMPLATE PLEASE SHARE IT HERE! Less work for other teachers....

David, thanks! Can't wait to try it out and share it with my co-teachers. I think they'll be excited.
Donna,

Didn't get around to emailing you! But this will do. I'm making an easier flash version but did this because it was much quicker. Only problem with it is that it is quite crude. But yes, might do. I"ll try putting up some standard dialogues with audio to use it with....
David,
I want to add one more line of dialog to the template. I tried, but my blue boxes don't appear and reappear. What do I need to do? I checked "actions" and "hyperlinks" but so far, I don't see how you did it. Help please.
Donna,

I would just put the last line in and don't disappear it.I don't think it will make that big a difference. It is too hard to explain and too much work to change. See the attached, last slide. Just another dialogue box I put in .

However, I'll make some more templates for a shorter version and a longer version soon.
