I was wondering what you all thought of learning designs pertaining to English language teaching? What are the ways in which you design your lessons to achieve better learning in your students?Continue

Survey on technology use in the classroom and your students response to that use

Hi folks,

Please, pardon the cross posting. I’ll be posting this on a few different listservs and Ning groups today.

I am giving a presentation on Saturday regarding my experiences with a Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) course over the last couple years. I am particularly focusing on the sense of frustration that students feel when working with a large number of sites, services, and applications. Many students are overwhelmed (at least initially). I have also seen this in countless listserv and discussion forum postings, not the mention in break rooms and conference rooms. I would like to use the results of this survey as a last minute addition to the course. I’m interested on hearing about your experiences with this.

Please visit the survey URL at:

You will be asked for your email address to enter the survey. I don’t need your address, but the system does, so enter any address you wish.

I’ll post the results of the survey this weekend on my blog (

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

P.S., if you're going to be at the KOTESOL conference this weekend, see you there.

Will do Daniel.

I'll also let my Korean High School teachers know about this survey - atleast those that use technological applications in their classrooms. (I've been beating my drum the last year especially!)

Thanks David. That was quick! :)

I enjoyed your "speed" presentation! I found the findings of the 55 who filled out the survey, verified my suspicions.

Firstly about a "digital divide" and how some teachers are readily using technology but many teachers, older ones in particular, are resistant to adopt. Students don't feel an overload at all. Secondly, that technology needs to be used practically within the classroom to be effective. Not mentioned like, "hey check out this link!".

I'd love to get a link here for others to your findings or display the graphs of the ppt using slideshare here.....

Thanks again for the effort, always worth it.

Hi David,

Please, just call me Dan :)

Thanks for coming to the presentation. One of the few lucky ones, I guess :) It was great to see you in person.

You can link to anything you like. I'll add the presentation here. I course, all materials are available on my blog at

Here's the presentation

Here's a look at more of the technologies we used/were introduced to in the class.

I'll be posting more on the survey later. I still have to look through a LOT of text in some of the questions. Maybe at the end of the week.
