62 Wonderful World

This is a very fun and easy to do lesson.

1. Warm up by asking the students/brainstorming why the world is wonderful. Write the student's answers on the board as you discuss or have them also do this in groups, filling out a webmap or graphic organizer....

2. Play the song and sing -- It's A Wonderful World.  Give the attached lyric sheet handout and have them listen and fill in the missing words.

Find more videos like this on EFL CLASSROOM 2.0

3. Get the students to cut up each line of the song sheet! (they love this!) and then mix up their pieces. Ask them to listen and put it together. You will need to listen to the song several times for this!

4. Give the students this Story Frame (attached) and using the things brainstormed, the students draw their wonderful world and describe the things they think make it wonderful!

Bingo -- you have a WONDERFUL lesson.  You might also try this video showing the earth in one year!

So good! But why does the video say "the dogs say goodnight" ??
Does anyone have a link to a video as good as this but with the correct words?

That's a great question! I know the real/original/genuine lyrics are "dark sacred night" but I and my students (high level) listened to this numerous times and could only hear "dogs say good night". So being the practical constructivist that I am, I went with what is heard not what is intended. The customer is # 1, don't you think.

But maybe others hear differently, let's "hear" from them.

In the meantime, here's the mp3/wav of the song and the ppt. You can make it your own! Also, on our karaoke page, you should find this in karaoke, I'll have to check..... but again, let's compare.....

This David Attenborough version is amazing! Great way to present the song also.
