"gif" are small animated pictures that are very powerful for prompting language from students. I've collected many and now have put them together in power points which you could use for some fun instruction! Just get them asking each other - "What's Happening?" Lots of other uses, even get them to connect the photos to make a story - like Story Dominoes....

Make sure to join Gif Lingua.  Teachers will soon be able to make Giflets, short gif presentations to teach anything!

This article / post shows how you can also create your own .gifs with Snagit. Also see all our "gif" related bookmarked articles. Interesting reading.

Our gif videos are a lot of fun!  Also visit Gif News weekly for presentations of the week's news. These presentations about opposites are perfect for beginners.

*** Please review these resources before in class viewing - just in case there is something you might consider inappropriate for your students.

Interestingly, they are jpegs, not gifs... I guess jpegs can be animated now : )

A nice gif ppt for beginners. Can / can't .

Hi Ellen,

Hope all is well!  Yes, these work but have limitations that gif overcomes. Can't be "played" in a browser + are quite larger given of higher quality/resolution.

Let's learn some English with Robert De Niro.  Lots of great movie lines to present for students.

Use this to test your students' musical knowledge of classic (older) groups or singers.  How well do they do?

They'll learn some English along the way with the lyrics...

How things are made.  Get students to describe using  "How ....... are made."

Here is a nice ppt for reviewing basic animal vocabulary with students.
