All about being a Newbie

I am still feeling my way around this Web 2.0 thing. Since I was on sabbatical this year I have shifted to being more of a student and less of a teacher (something that we all are all the time, but the proportions change) So along with preparing my trip to China and learning a little Chinese, I started to grope around to see what new things I could incorporate next year when I return to teaching.

I have done a lot of Facebook, although it is a horrible time- waster ,the students (especially… Continue

Great to hear of your interest. Can you email me directly at MrFerlazzo@aol.com and I can give you information? Thanks.

Thanks Ruth! I was wondering and asked Susan who helped me when this was just beginning about 7 months ago. She was invaluable with giving advice and other things....

The more the merrier! I really haven't done much promotion at all but once the first year is up -- then I'll be all promotion. I gave myself the first year just to get this stable, running, with a few good members and good, accessible content. I'll also be hitting the lecture circuit next year and that'll help.

Once again, thanks and more than anything, it is word of mouth that makes anything succeed! I will also have to visit and say a big thanks to ETNI!

Hi Ruth, it's certainly a small world. I still teach, but in the computer lab, at Maaganim Elementary School, Kibbutz Maagan Michael. I know Ety through a Ning network I set up for Israeli teachers http://edureshet.ning.com you're very welcome to join
Also if your computers allow how about having your students send holiday greetings around the world on this voicethread?

I love the look of your page! Very warm and friendly.

Welcome to EFL Classroom 2.0! I hope you'll find a great "home" for learning and teaching. I look forward to your own contribution here. By sharing and learning from one another, all our jobs get easier.

Make sure you introduce yourself in our "introduce yourself" forum! Find others with common interests and Make Pals by inviting members to be your friend! And if you want, show others where you are from on the Frappr map.

When you have a moment, personalize your homepage, click around and see a lot of great videos, presentations, links to resources (games/readers/karaoke) pics and music. Share in the forums and put up or link to your own blog. Check out our great Buzka library of links. Join a group that interests you or form your own! You have unlimited photo storage and can make your own albums and slideshows.

If you have a classroom, invite your students to use EFL Classroom 2.0. Lots of top knotch content for them. Ning allows multiple logins, so create one class account/page and then everyone can use EFL Classroom 2.0 with the same ID/PW. Or create your own classroom group!

In the new year, an improved resource site with everything for teaching will arrive –

Please take a look at the EFL FAQ link on the main page.

Note our Media Fire unlimited file sharing for sharing / storing materials. ID: eflclassroom@mail.com PW: eflclassroom
You may also download many videos (karaoke/teaching and readers) at vimeo with the same password. Our new video preview player also allows both full screen and downloading. Click the arrow.

Most of all, keep sharing and discussing. By contributing your expertise with the community you make all our jobs easier, better.

Happy teaching,

"Teaching is the art of assisting discovery."

Hi Ruth, Nice to meet you! I see that we have a lot in common, etni, britain, Israel, I'm originally from Leeds (although if you're a Southener you'll probably say there's nothing original about that) To get out of EFL and into ICT, I simply told my school principal that I was at a point of do or die, either make a change or quit. Luckily? He agreed to me making a change :-)
