The Daily Kos had an interesting post
about Facebook new "advertising" system. I have to admit that I am outraged. Not only are these tracking programs
just diabolical but I am certain that they are illegal. The way I see it when a company sells my internet habits, they are in fact selling something that belongs to me and should not be taken without my consent.
I want to quit
facebook and myspace until they are more thoughtful and responsive to its users. But it is invaluable as a tool to keep track of the many wonderful people that I have met, at college, traveling, or MUNing. I am worried about becoming too dependent
on it. However, I am comforted by the fact that I have writen more old fashion letters and post cards than anyone I know (and sent out many more than I have recieved).
