New Parent Engagement Blog & Book

I've recently begun a new blog called Engaging Parents In School: Going Beyond Parent "Involvement".

It's designed to support my book that will be published in the fall, Building Parent Engagement In Schools.

This article, Parent Involvement or Parent Engagement, gives a preview of the book.

The blog, in addition to pieces I write, will be a “round-up” of new (or, at least, new to me) articles and resources that I think will be useful to educators and parents grappling with parent engagement issues.

What an interesting and important topic, Larry, and an educational issue where there is still much to say and do and be developed.

I look forward to reading your book and your blog : )

All the best,

You got your priorities right. The parents are "key" to any success at school. But it isn't always what they do that is important - it is also important what parent's "don't do", that is even more significant in contributing to student success. I'm sure your blog and book will note and investigate that.

I really believe education to be a community affair. That's the only way it REALLY works. I know how strong you feel about that and look forward to all the info. and focus your blog will give this issue. I'll definitely send you some thoughts about how parental involvement here in Korea (which is an extreme and thus, very fruitful example) helps and hinders the learning of students here (and especially that of learning English).
