"Partly Cloudy" Video and Speaking Activities

This short animation video from Pixar is adorable.  I haven't actually used it in my classes yet, but I plan to next week...so I thought I would share.

Here is a link to the video

I have the file in avi format, but unfortunately it's too big to upload here in this blog.  I just took some screen shots of key moments throughout the short film, and plan on either printing them out and laminating them (Ss can pick a random picture from the pile and try to line up according to the story sequence, then make a sentence about what happened in their picture), or maybe just use the PPT and call on students, I haven't decided yet.  Either way, I'm attaching both the doc and ppt here, feel free to use them however you'd like.  I think a BAAM game format would work well too!

Loren,

This is awesome - just the kind of "meaty" material that teachers WILL use because it is really motivating for their students. (like the Wallace and Gromit stuff that is on here).

I'm replying without looking in detail - will report back later. However, I do like the use of visuals only for teaching. Really puts the onus on students to produce language.

Thanks David.  Yeah I think it would be a great speaking exercise since there are so many questions you could ask about each picture.  I made the PPT in a hurry, otherwise I would have written questions in there and made it a bit more interactive.  If I make a better one I will upload and replace this one, and will also try to upload the vid in the mediafire account.
