About

Technology. Amazing but nobody's happy!

This is Louis C.K. , a comedian expounding on how technology has changed everything but made nobody happier. Really funny and illuminating at the same time. I remember well those rotary dial phones and friends with zeros in their number!

This might be a good video to introduce a lesson on how technology has changed things. Students can list THEN and NOW in an organizer. Also a great way to produce the present perfect tense. "Phones have become......" etc....

I have also used this fun video to highlight how things have changed so dramatically. But like Louis - I too believe technology is neutral, in and outside the classroom. It isn't itself that makes us happy, happiness comes from some other origin/place.....

I really think technology is changing the way we think and learn. Sometimes we have to unplug.

Yes, a good read and I kept and enjoyed it on the toilet - where I do my "deep" reading. .....

Here is another rumination on the same subject but from a different angle.

Technology, online, whatever you call it, is NOT "unreal". It has its reality and authority as all things. I think we forget that. We might sooner bitch and complain about all the monotony in our lives. Endless minutes/hours spent waiting in line, preparing our hair, lying in bed waiting to get up...... I think the debate about reality and "online" is false. But I'll save my thoughts up for a blog post/rant and for a better ordering of my argument!
