Typing for EFL students

Typing is a vital skill, especially in the digital age. Fortunately there are some great platforms to use for free where students can practice and learn this important skill.

The Typing Club. Free. Easy to follow lessons. Progress through the lessons and get better and better. It's that easy!

Dancing Mat Typing is very friendly and cartoonish but effective. 

This site goes through 4 stages, just follow the dinosaurs instructions. In flash and flash and dynamic! Check it out!

I also recommend Live Typing, and Touch Typing. Also see Larry Ferlazzo's comprehensive list.

Thank you for the link. Typing difficulties in English have come up several times for different projects in my afternoon classes. From my own experience, I know how difficult it can be learning to type on a keyboard that uses a different character set.

I'm thinking of doing a typing program for my Winter Camp classes coming up. I am putting lesson plans together, so if anyone would like to collaborate, I would be happy to share resources and appreciate some ideas.

If you can set it up, it really is a cool and engaging/motivating way for students to encounter English. A good camp activity. Blended motivation - game + learning. Also, if they keep at it - a practical skill that might benefit them in the future if they ever work with English online...

All the Right Type I loved using with my primary students but seems now it is paid only. I'll search around and see if I can find a free version that can be used online..
