is a site of extremes. IMO, It is probably one of the best places for adults to "self-study" and get good audio and topic friendly content. (it made my lit of TOP Websites for ELT)
. The lessons are all free (THANK YOU!) and with good quality audio and video. Leveled and learners can work their way through as they fluency develops. Each lesson is theme based and has a vocabulary section / a classroom instruction section (sometimes) and a Language practice section. You don't even have to register (THANK YOU!) but if you want the site to keep track of what parts you've done/conquered - you'll have to register. So far so good, all roses but.....
I really hate their very "teacher" focused approach. It is totally teacher centered and very "phony". There is so much "repeat after me" in the videos and it reflects a teaching methodology that IMO should be thrown the way of the transistor radio (audio lingual method). It grates me that they couldn't find a more dynamic and modern approach to develop what must have cost a zillion dollars.
That said, it should be a go to site for adult learners (along with Mingoville
for young learners and Click N' Learn
for young adults) -- send your students there for extra study! See what they say... All in all a great site and thanks as always to Larry Ferlazzo
for helping me find my way there...
