Sorry for being so late in reply! I'm swamped and I'll be working right through the holidays it seems. But happily, madly so :)

Well, with a tired bunch, you'll have to do a lot of "active" things. That isn't so easy with listening but I'd take the view that listening can also be active. It isn't always just listen - what did you hear? Write it down. Check.

One good way is to use stories. Look under Resources Share here and you'll find lots of leveled readers.(look under that category or just search in our search engine at the top of the page). Download / print. Students have to read and prepare 3-5 questions for post reading. They read in small groups/listen and answer the questions together. You'll have to model as a full class. A kind of Extensive reading focus where students read at a level where there isn't much difficulty. Pick books that are very easy for them!

Also try our Listening page. Lots of stuff there. You can try the True Stories. Download and printout the ppts (File - print preview - print ) to give to students for exercises. Lots more there, including dialogues. However, I'd really go for the dialogues I made. very professional. Click and play. Students listen, fill in the blanks. Then practice/perform as a group.

I hope this helps you out with some ideas! Cheers, Merry Christmas,

Hi Charles,

Welcome to EFL Classroom 2.0! I hope you'll find a great "home" for learning and teaching. I look forward to your own contribution here. By sharing and learning from one another, all our jobs get easier.

Make sure you introduce yourself in our "introduce yourself" forum! Find others with common interests and Make Pals by inviting members to be your friend! And if you want, show others where you are from on the Frappr map.

When you have a moment, personalize your homepage, click around and see a lot of great videos, presentations, links to resources (games/readers/karaoke) pics and music. Share in the forums and put up or link to your own blog. Check out our great Buzka library of links. You have unlimited photo storage and can make your own albums and slideshows. Even chat to Dave the "bot".

Join a “classroom” that interests you or form your own! Also, Ning offers a multiple login feature so that you can register a class page and all your students/faculty can access through the same pw/id and use the content. You can even start your own classroom here for your students in our groups.

Please take a look at the EFL FAQ link on the main page.

Note our Media Fire unlimited file sharing for sharing / storing materials. ID: PW: eflclassroom (new teachers please see the ESSENTIALS folder) You may also download many videos (karaoke/teaching and readers) at vimeo with the same password. Our new video A/V player also allows both full screen and downloading. Click the arrow.

Most of all, keep sharing and discussing. By contributing your expertise with the community you make all our jobs easier, better.

Happy teaching,

”Teaching is the art of assisting discovery."
