Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson

A cool song about pancakes. I had some today (McDonald's delivery!) and thought of this song....and it is the weekend now too!

A great lesson to go with this song is - How to make pancakes.

Show students this video. then TPR the "how to" until you've made and eaten the pancakes!
Next, students write down all the steps, brainstorm in groups or do as a class.
Finally, they practice telling others how to make pancakes!

Don't forget to order/bring in some pancakes! Bonus marks if you use real Canadian maple syrup!

Here's a true karaoke style version for the song....

Now David, here is a cute lesson ready for a recipe card... but how to convince someone of its obvious merits without showing them the video? How about allowing the object tag too?

Well, you know best!

I've been mulling that over but I really think it important to keep it about "ideas" and not content. Like a recipe card, very simple and just the core of an idea. .... but I'm still thinking and refining. Been working on the site today and should move it over to its proper domain - http://teachingrecipes.com next week. I'll then begin seeding lots of ideas from here and the MANY lists that until now are hit or miss to teachers...that's the reason to do this and get it tagged and web 2.0.

Man, I love this song. So relaxing!

You like that domain name? I guess I'm just too traditional :) . Plus, I want teachers to find it...

stay tuned and I hope you're happy to know that I'm no proficient in opening a banana. And to think all these years I did it backwards! God, I feel like my life has been a waste!

There is a cool book on Gif Lingua about pancakes. Students read to learn how to make them. Also study the vocabulary.

Find attached a nice lesson for both the Banana Pancake song and also watching a video and listing the steps to make pancakes.

This bookis similar with materials for registered teachers - how to make a PJ Sandwich.
