David, I have so much respect for your ideas for educators. They're all so effective. Really, you inspire me.
Where can I find more "blank paper ideas?" I'm teaching in a school with poor equipment that malfunctions frequently. Many times I have a lesson prepared that utilized a power point or the internet, but suddenly there is no computer access, or no internet, or no sound. I feel that I have not been good at thinking fast on my feet about what to do instead. This video gave me some great ideas, but I'd like some more.

Donna,

I've been meaning and meaning to make a whole new textbook (available as a free ebook) along these lines. 2 pages and on the first page - teachers are offered a class sheet to play a communicative game/activity. On the next page, with lots of blank space, students create their own content and use that for controlled practice.
I'll get around to it , promise!!!

However in the meantime, see some of the ideas in the Lessons in a Can. Scroll down to find them under teaching with just a blank piece of paper. I'd also recommend along the same lines, Jill Hadfield's teacher training handbooks. Simple and about low preparation and many times, getting the students to provide the content (Student Generated Content SGC).

Adrian Underhill wrote what I consider the first important document about this teaching philosophy - where the content to be used for practice derives solely from the student's world and the teacher is free to focus on lang. production. I've attached it. A great, short and simple read.

Glad you found some use from these few videos. Nothing professional about them but like so much, just feel best to put it out there and see what others think! Cheers.

Thanks! There is so much to take in on the site that sometimes I have trouble finding what I want--or I get sidetracked when I see so many good ideas... I tried searching for the words "blank paper" but nothing came up.
Maybe there could be a section with that name? Or, maybe there is, and I just haven't found it. :)
