I have a dream - Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK Jr.'s most famous speech.

Here is the karaoke file. Get the player and slow down so your students can practice speaking it (just turn off the volume, or turn it down).
This page has a ton of lesson ideas for teaching about MLK Jr.

Here is another one of his speeches in honor of Black History Month.

See Larry Ferlazzo's blog for a fine collection of links for both MLK Jr. and Black History Month.... Thanks Larry!

This video would do the trick too! Just play as a game of Last One Standing. Write some of the main vocabulary words on the board. Students copy one word or phrase onto a blank piece of paper (nice and big). Stand up and play! When they hear their word they must sit down. Hear it again they can stand up. Last one standing wins! See already made games in Resources or Kool Karaoke.

Oprah Winfrey gave an amazing eulogy to honor Rosa Parks. You can use this with high level students. Also, see this student's copy video of Oprah's speech. Interesting.

The Rev. Al Sharpton, love him or hate him, sure gives a barn burner of a speech. Amazingly watchable, transfixing, no matter your persuasion...

You can also "speak" this speech on EnglishCentral. I made sure this video was up on the site! Great practice and students will get their speech assessed with this powerful tool.
